Join us tomorrow, Saturday, January 21 from 5 – 7pm, for a reception with exhibiting artists Suzi Fox, Leah Frankel, and David Meyer. The artists will give a gallery talk at 5:30pm.

GRACE is also delighted to share that numerous artists who have been featured in our gallery have recently been presented with prestigious awards allowing them to pursue their individual paths to artistic success!

Congratulations to J.T. Kirkland, Gwynneth VanLaven, and Andrew Zimmermann, all selected for Professional Fellowships with the Virginia Museum of Fine Art, by juror Scott Rothkopf, curator of the Whitney Museum of American Art!

Congratulations to John Adams, Travis Childers, and Evan Reed who were awarded Strauss Fellowships from the Arts Council of Fairfax County.

2012 Winter Focus Exhibitions

Greater Reston Arts Center is pleased to present the 2012 Winter Focus Exhibitions featuring works of Suzi Fox, Leah Frankel and David Meyer. These artists’ works are primarily conceptual and each shares a passion for transforming common materials into unique works that are universally accessible.

Whether you come during the excitement of the artist reception or find a quiet moment to enjoy the openness of the gallery space, you will be able to interact with the artists throughout the exhibition by using our Q&A comment box. Your questions and the artists’ answers will be posted on our social media sites.
Join us for the Reception on Saturday, January 21 from 5 – 7pm with a gallery talk at 5:30pm.

GRACE is undergoing an exciting transformation as we install the 2012 Winter Focus Exhibitions. These exhibitions features Suzi Fox, Leah Frankel, and David Meyer whose works are primarily conceptual and inspired by personal experiences, an investigation of natural phenomena, and the process involved in making art. Mark your calendars now for the January 21 reception and gallery talk from 5-7pm.

Join us for a staged reading by the professional actors of hub theatre for a presentation of
A Man, His Wife, and His Hat by Lauren Yee.

Hetchman loves his hat. Oh, and his wife, too. But when both go missing, the retired hat maker vows to stop at nothing to find them. If he can ever muster the strength to leave the comforts of his armchair. But the arrival of a talking wall and a hungry golem threatens to derail his endeavor. A klezmer-inspired love triangle between a man, his wife, and his hat.

Cultural Night in Reston

Greater Reston Arts Center and Reston Community Center teamed up last Saturday for our first successful cultural night! We had a fabulous opening reception and gallery talk for the 2011 Fall Focus exhibition and Reston Community Center’s CenterStage hosted two outstanding contemporary dance performances by Daniel Burkholder/The PlayGround. Thank you to all for your support of these community events and to the participating artists for sharing their insightful works. This weekend, if you find yourself in need of serenity visit the gallery. GRACE is open Friday and Saturday from 11am-5pm. We look forward to seeing you!

The closing of each exhibition is often bittersweet, but we are always grateful for the opportunity to work with such talented artists. Thank you, Evan.

Our newest exhibition is on its way and set to open this weekend! We are currently installing the works for our Fall Focus exhibition featuring Heidi Fowler, Sheep Jones, Novie Trump, and Millicent Young. The exhibition opens on Saturday, November 19th at 11am. Be sure to attend the artist talk and reception from 5-7pm. Everyone who attends the opening will receive a complimentary ticket for the 8pm presentation of the Chemistry of Lime Trees, courtesy of the Reston Community Center’s CenterStage. We look forward to seeing you Saturday.

This week we had an abundance of school groups and daycare students visit the gallery. I want to take this opportunity to thank the Montessori of Oakton, Southgate Community Center, Laurel Learning Center, the Russia School, and Providence Elementary for choosing to spend some time with us. The docents and staff enjoyed your company and we look forward to many more visits during the next exhibition. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t miss your last chance to see Evan Reed’s work at the gallery. The current exhibition closes tomorrow and we are open from 11a-5p. Come on in and see us!
