Summer art camp began this past Monday and so far it is a wonderful experience for all involved. The students are very creative and not afraid to get dirty. This week’s theme is Undersea Worlds and the teacher, Ms. Ashley Wells, has the children creating all sorts of creatures from the depths of the ocean to create an underwater experience in the classroom. There are jellyfish hanging from the ceiling and construction paper fish on the walls. It is a thing of beauty.
What makes this a great experience is simple; creativity is fostered. Through the process of creative problem solving the students not only leave camp with wonderful creations, but are more importantly armed with the ability to think critically about art and the world around them.
