Create your sense of place at an amazing art workshop next week.
On March 14, Jackie Cantwell will be teaching a Super Studio for elementary school aged children on found object sculpture. Using artist Louise Nevelson as inspiration, children will create works that are multidimensional and address the theme of the current exhibition, a sense of place. The workshop takes place from 3:30-5pm and costs $15 for members or residents of Small District 5 ; $30 for nonmembers/nonresidents.
On Saturday, March 19, families enter into the “wonderland” of the Tunnel Book, a fantastic 3D book format that can take your imagination anywhere it wants to go. After looking at examples of tunnel books by various artists, you will try your hands at drawing, painting, collaging, cutting and finally pasting together your own magical worlds. The Weekend Workshop will be led by Zigzag Crafts, and taught by Roberta Jeffries (printmaker and book artist), and Susan Jeffries (narrative painter). Children must be aged 7+ to participate and be accompanied by an adult. Limited to 20 participants. Fee is $5 per person member/resident; $10 nonmember/nonresident. Your family’s imagination and creativity will be the only limit on where you can go.
These programs are made possible with support from Reston Community Center. Registration is through RCC.
