Looking for an all day creative summer camp for your children? The Greater Reston Arts Center’s 2013 Summer Art Camp offers an all day diverse art experience in week-long sessions, through varying themes, for rising 1-8th graders, all at a Reston area public school!
Expand your child’s artistic vocabulary and creative process through hands-on activities led by professional art educators and local artists in the following themes:
June 24 – June 28, 4th – 6th grade
July 8 – July 12, 6th – 8th grade
Campers will be introduced to the world of Contemporary Art with a focus on local artists. Each day the campers will be introduced to an area artist who will discuss their artistic vision, demonstrate their technique, and lead an age- appropriate art activity.
My Mom Would Never Let Me Do That
July 1 – July 3, 1st – 4th grade
It’s back and better than ever! This three-day camp will focus on all the art projects that your mom would never let you do in the house. Let us clean up the mess!
Introduction to Public Art
July 15 – 19, 1st – 6th grade
Public Art is more popular than ever. This camp will explore various types of Public Art and introduce campers to Public Art in the Reston community. Camp will culminate with a group Public Art project. In partnership with Initiative for Public Art – Reston (IPAR).
July 22 – July 26, 1st -3rd grade
July 29 – August 2, 4th – 6th grade
GRACE Art is our largest education program providing art appreciation in area schools. For the first time, we will use the GRACE Art portfolios as a starting point for camp. We will dig deeper into the subjects and artists. Campers will create richer, more in-depth art projects influenced by the artists.
Art and Movement
August 5 – August 9, 1st – 3rd grade
August 12 – August 16, 4th – 6th grade
With a focus on action painting and other physical art forms, children will explore the use of movement in their art making. In partnership with Beloved Yoga.
